When the roots of your pothos cutting are 2-3 inches long, and appear healthy and sturdy, it is time to transplant. In water propagation, wait till several roots are formed and then proceed with soil. During transplanting, water a little to help the plant acclimatize itself when using a well-draining potting mix. Sudden change of environment should be avoided as it can cause a stress to the cutting.
